Software Installed on Tiny

Tiny is running Ubuntu 7.1 (I think)
Started 2008-02-10 so there is lots missing from the list.

2008-02-08 Truecrypt 5.0
Upgraded from 4.3 which had stopped working. Had the data backed up previously so just went ahead and installed.
Downloaded software from Truecrypt
Upgraded cleanly with sudo dpkg -i xxxxx.deb
Had to modify the mount script to:
sudo truecrsudo truecrypt /dev/sda4 /media/hard_drive/documents/protected --filesystem=vfat
previously it didnt have an "=".
Truecrypt 5.0 has a GUI even under Linux.
This script now requires GUI for password entry to mount so can't do over SSH. Might have to try to fix this some time.

Sharing with NFS
Samba seems to have some limits with file size under Linux (samba client I guess). Windows seems to be OK. So I set up nfs for sharing with my linux machine.
Installed nfs on server:
sudo apt-get install nfs-kernel-server (it was already installed in my case)
exported a directory:
sudo vim /etc/exports
added:
/media/hard_drive/media 192.168.3.0/255.255.255.0 (rw,async) #(make sure no space after comma)
/media/hard_drive/photos 192.168.3.0/255.255.255.0 (rw,async)
/media/hard_drive/documents 192.168.3.0/255.255.255.0 (rw,async)
edited /etc/hosts.deny
added: ALL:ALL
edited /etc/hosts.allow
added: 192.168.3.
better learn more about this. I suppose this is safe since it limits connections to this side of the router. Its more normal to do it by service.
restart the service: sudo /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart

2008/04/29 Switched to NFS
Unfortunately, the exported truecrypt drive doesn't seem to work over NFS, so still have to use samba to access the encrypted drive.

2008/06/29 upgraded to hardy heron
dev designation for drives changed to had to change them in fstab to get them to mount.
2008/06/29 Enabled Remote Desktop
system, preferences, remote desktop, configure for password access, don't change any advanced. Access from remote computer by "vncviewer tiny:0" (might need to "apt-get install xvnc4viewer" first.

installed drupal
